Gibbs & Ryker the Saga Begins

Scotty Greene is on his way to Atlanta airport to pick up Gibbs (new name Sig), and Ryker (new name Striker).  Who have been generously donated to us by The Woof Project, and The Animal Protectorates (TAPS) in California.

California is having an enormous influx of Belgian Malinois into their high kill shelters.  The Belgian is the "dog of the day" out there right now, and breeding is prolific.  The problem is, the Belgian Malinois is a working dog, and must have a job or they get into all kinds of trouble.

People in general do not research the breed of dog when they buy from a breeder, and they are after that "little red sports car" that they can brag about to their friends.  Or with the Belgian, they are figuring on a protection type dog, without training.  Doesn't work that way folks.  Working dogs undergo training their entire working careers, and even into their retirement.

The first photo is of Gibbs, who will be renamed Sig when he arrives in Tennessee.  Gibbs was pulled by TAPS, The Animal Protectorates once it was established that GreenePets Foster Network, Kat Rollins and Scotty Greene would commit to him.  Our greatest dream is that Gibbs "Sig" will become a drug dog for a local Sheriffs department.

The second photo is Ryker, who will be renamed Stryker when he arrives in Tennessee.  Ryker was also pulled out of a high kill situation by TAPS, The Animal Protectorates.  Shelley Rizottii called when it was established that we would take Gibbs, and it was determined that "What they hey, ship one, ship two.  And GreenePets said "The more the merrier, yes we will take him as well."

Once they arrive at GreenePets Foster Network, Inc.  they will be residing at All Creatures Country Club, where their training will commence.

Follow this blog for updates on how things are working out for these boys.  We will keep a log of their progress until they are placed.

Placement will depend totally on their abilities.  Their assessment will tell us where they will fit into our programs.

  • Police work
  • Service dog
  • Family pet - for the right family who will commit to training themselves.

Our placements are to forever homes, be it a partner in police work, a working partner in life, or a highly skilled companion to a family.

Where can you Volunteer and receive Double the Benefit for your Efforts

Where can you Volunteer and receive Double the Benefit for your Efforts?

Did you know you can Save a Dog and at the same time Empower a Person?

Puppy Raising for CrittersWork Service Dog Partners does just that.

The dog you mentor for CrittersWork will have the best opportunity of becoming a service, assistance, hearing, psychiatric assistance or therapy dog for some person who desperately needs the skills this dog could provide.

Your efforts will not only give this dog a forever home that creates an extremely special relationship for person and dog, this dog becomes a life changing partner.

Recent statistics report that more than 19 percent of our population over age five suffer from a disability.  Together we can benefit the daily lives of many people by partnering them with a Service Dog.

This all starts with YOU, Puppy Raisers are an essential part of our organization.  The Puppy Raiser fosters a service dog candidate under the age of sixteen months from anywhere between four to fourteen months.

Be part of the solution!

Service Dogs are capable of retrieving items, opening and closing doors, pulling wheelchairs, stabilizing a person who needs assistance walking, alerting the hearing impaired to important sounds, and even searching for a person afflicted with Alzheimer’s or Autism.

Help us make changes in two lives.

You’ll be glad you did.

Please Help Us

An Introduction to GreenePets

GreenePets Foster Network, Inc. was formed in 2004 because of the horrible problems we have with pet abandoment here in Greene County.

There are several rescue groups active in the area, and we still don't make a dent in the problems of pet abandonment and lack of spay/neuter.

Our organization is in constant need of volunteers and especially those who can run programs for us.

Drop us a line if you would like to volunteer.
